Ps4 shuts off on its own while downloading

PS4 shuts down while downloading games/updates. As the title says. The most recent occurrence of this is today while trying to download Neverwinter. I've tried downloading in both Power On and Rest mode. Initially, the download made it to just over 1GB before my PS4 turns off. Now, every time I turn it back on and try again now it shuts down after a few short minutes of downloading. Ps4 shut down completely on its own. Should I be worried?? So I clicked on the headset companion app and it was loading but all of a sudden shut down completely. I pressed the PS button and tht did not turn the system on. Then I got up and pressed the power button and it beeped but didn't turn on so I unplugged it ad plugged it back in then it.  · I talked to the ps people and they said turn off your ps4 completely. Once completely off hold the power button until you here the 2nd beep you’ll get to the safe mode menu. Once you get there click on the 5th option (can’t remember which it was but it was something about re do database) once that’s finished turn off ps4 and unplug for 3 min and it should be good.

The exact same test on our PS4 Pro: around 44 minutes. How long will it take to download a game on ps5? For larger games (Mike's example was Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise) the PS4 Pro took its usual 58 minutes and 34 seconds to download GB, whereas the PS5 completed that in just 7 minutes and 1 second. How much faster is ps5? There might be numerous possibilities including a defecting PSU unit or your PS4 overheating. There are also instances of people reporting the console getting shut down whenever their PS4 gets heated up (probably because of faulty joints in the system). There is also an issue of the overheating causing the thermal on-off switch to get triggered. I don't think you should turn it completely off if it's installing something. Switch it to standby mode instead, it should download and install things automatically in this mode anyway. In fact, I don't think you should turn it completely off ever. As long as you don't have a good reason to turn it off then I would keep it on standby.

This is the most common cause of PS4 shutting down on its own. To fix it, let your device cool down for 30 minutes before turning on it again. Make sure you place your PS4 in a well-ventilated area so it can release the heat it generates. Also, clean your PS4 regularly to prevent dust pile-up on the surface and interior – as serious dust build-up is usually the culprit of PS4 overheating. Fix 3: Update PS4 system software. My ps4 has been bugging the heck out of me with the same problem for over a year. Then suddenly (after several restarts and a whole bunch of cursing) it starts behaving better for a little while. But it's only temporary. Eventually, it goes back to shutting down on its own, or starting on its own, or doing all kinds of crazy things.
